We want to launch Set a Spark--a pre-kindergarten program which will give young, disadvantaged kids the chance to develop the skills, creativity, and love of learning that drive lifelong success--in our neighborhood, Washington Heights, in New York. Washington Heights is a vibrant neighborhood of hardworking people and deserving young families who want the best for their kids. But, we don't have options for high-quality, pre-schools. Set a Spark will fill that need through: interactive lessons in reading, math, science, and technology; instruction that's responsive to culture and heritage; indoor and outdoor activities that inspire; accommodations for students with special needs; and learning that will grant an edge that lasts a lifetime. How about kids who can add and subtract before they're 5? How about kids who can write short stories before kindergarten? How about kids who will grow up with the ability to give back and make a difference? With your help, we'll make it happen. But, before we can start Set a Spark, we need to meet state and city building codes to ensure kids' safety including installing fire-alarm and emergency systems. We also need to make sure our building is equipped with spaces tailored for students with special needs including physical impairments, autism, emotional-behavior disorder, and other challenges. To open in April 2016, we need to raise the funds by December 15, 2015. Will you help us change young lives and redefine possibilities? Thanks so much for your support, and helping kids start a lifetime of success.
