We're setting a new goal to raise $50,000 for Avery and her family for this lifesaving Memphis journey. Please join us in supporting this campaign and sharing it with everyone.

https://moveyourmountain.org/c/MemphisAvery

I'm sure you've all heard the AMAZING news....Avery is headed to Memphis to begin a 4-5 week clinical trial! It is a blessing that this trial exists and that she got accepted in so quickly.

Once the trial begins, they will be in Memphis for 4-5 weeks undergoing treatment....and will then need to travel back to Memphis every 2 months for a few years.

Avery and her parents will fly out next week so she can begin treatment immediately.

After spending months in Seattle Children's Hospital, away from her Las Vegas home...they now have an opportunity to now attempt this potential lifesaving treatment.

Our goal is to remove any financial burden off the Driscoll family and keep them together during this difficult time--so that they can focus on Avery.

They are looking at costs of flying back and forth, medical expenses and co-pays, medicine costs, out-patient housing, meals, transportation, medical supplies to make Avery comfortable while they're in TN.

We're setting a new goal to raise $50,000 for Avery and her family for this lifesaving Memphis journey. Please join us in supporting this campaign and sharing it with everyone.

The Fabulous Team Avery Facebook Page is FILLED with AMAZING pictures of friends and family that came out to cheer on Avery this weekend.

On Saturday, Jan. 30th, Avery, mom, dad, and siblings all arrived from Seattle Children's Hospital back to their home in Las Vegas.

Avery's doctors have agreed to allow her to come spend a few days at home before finishing her radiation treatment in Seattle!

The Driscolls are so grateful for your love and concern!

Avery was in the Las Vegas Review Journal...what a great article they wrote.

Avery is fighting again this weekend...and could use prayers and support from all of us.

Avery is sporting a cute new pixie haircut...

and Stephanie is doing what AWESOME mom's do!

Everyone's been asking, "how are you and Chris doing...really?".
First, remember this isn't our first go round with this darn tumor. This is number 3. Not that it's easier, in some ways it's harder. (I've have quite a few nurses ask if I'm a nurse-nope just a cancer mom). But there is a familiar routine of hospital life at this point.
Second, we have our moments. Ugly cries, panic over the uncertainty, guilt for the other kids. But there are very few options here. Falling apart isn't one of them. I can't just pack up and go home. And Chris can't move the other kids here.
It's truly the highest of highs and lowest of lows.
We are being fed well, loved much and sustained with the faith of many. I could wallow and dwell on the pics of families at Christmas, or we can focus on the technology that allows us to celebrate together, even from different states.
I used to be the one that passed the mom in the hospital pushing the wheelchair of the semi responsive child thinking "that poor mom". Now I am that mom. And I realise something, I was wrong. That mom is just as happy with her child, as I am with mine. No matter what the outcome.
We feel confident that Avery will be a fully functioning person. She's still Avery. We can see that. Radiation threatens further cognative damage. But we honestly take it one day at a time. And it may take a while, but she'll get there.
We focus on the things we can control. Our attitude, our faith, our gratitude. We do the best with our kids just like you do yours.
Everyone has struggles. Ours are just more obvious.

If you haven't visited the Fabulous Team Avery Facebook Group...hop on over and leave a funny picture or video for Avery to watch over the holidays!

Avery is a Rockstar!

(Dec. 23rd update)

Avery should be exhausted by tonight. She walked...twice. Ate a few bites of real food and had speech and occupational therapy too!! We also go over to Univ of Washington to get scanned for radiation. They hope to start early next week.

Avery is waking up!

We had a pretty busy day. Got moved out of ICU!!! Avery sat up with her feet off the bed. With assistance but its great progress. Had three kinds of therapy. We got FIVE fun packages that we love!! Watched your super fun videos and then Avery even watched a bit of Tangled.
We will still be here a while but every little step shows we are headed in the right direction. Oh..and Christopher Driscoll went home. That's a whole other story of drama...rental car damage, planes delayed, medical issue for another passenger before take off....
Thanks again to everyone who have been overly generous with us. We feel spoiled and loved.

We've also created a Facebook Group so that EVERYONE can post a video or picture for Avery.

So, if you have the time...please hop over and send Avery a message (she LOVES watching them!) https://www.facebook.com/groups/1497504590551429/

Over the weekend, Avery did some pretty awesome things!

We had some encouraging movement tonight. Avery wanted to sit up and even gave us a thumbs up. I wasn't fast enough to get the smile, eyes and thumb all at the same time.

She also told her dad last night "love you".heart

Keep fighting sweet Avery!

We had the first MRI after surgery. The doctors are happy with most everything they see. But this is brain surgery. Somethings are unknown yet. With her not fully waking up yet, they do think this could be a long recovery with some rehab. What's long? Anyone's guess. Could we be home by Christmas? Possible but not probable I think. Many hugs and thanks for everything!! It's going to be a hard road, but we are not alone. And please keep my other kidos in mind. 😊
PS please don't send flowers or balloons. We can't have them in the icu.

Kind of been a long night. Avery hasn't fully woke up yet. Surgeon's aren't overly worried, but keeping a close eye on her. Thanks again for all the support.

December 10th, 2015

Avery's out of surgery doctors said it went well. Won't know for sure until she fully wakes up.

Avery has been taken back and surgery has been started.

From Stephanie:

Just got the call that they have started. Everything about this is bittersweet. It's the most amazing/aweful journey you'll ever go on. If I had to choose, I would've said "no way.
We are not stronger because we have a choice. We do what we have to do.
We are all doing hard things. Our is just really obvious.
I can't reply to everyone, but we all read the comments and feel your love and support. Miracles big and small happen all around us."

We will update you later today when surgery is over.

Here's a beautiful video of just how far Avery has already come.

Our sweet friend Avery has been admitted to Seattle Children's Hospital (after being medevaced from Sunrise Children's Hospital in Las Vegas).

Thursday, December 10th--Avery will undergo a Craniotomy Resection to try and remove her brain tumor. This operation is expected to last at least 8-10 hours. Once they are in her brain, they will most likely have to remove her shunt to gain full access to the tumor. (The shunt is a tube that's already in her head that relieves the pressure on her brain caused by fluid accumulation). A few days after recovering, they will need to go back in her head to re-insert the shunt.

This is ROUND THREE for Avery. She has already gone through brain surgeries and a year of chemo. Yet...this tumor has decided to make a reappearance.

Avery has been so very brave. Enduring the surgeries, chemo, hospital stays, and things that no child should have to endure.

Avery's neurosurgeon is amazing...but, they don't think they'll be able to get the entire tumor with this surgery and she will still require chemo and/or radiation. Avery's fight isn't over...it's beginning YET again.

With Stephanie and Chris in Seattle with Avery and the other three kiddos in Las Vegas...we wanted to put this fundraiser together so that the LAST thing the Driscoll's need to worry about are the mounting medical bills and cost to travel back and forth. Their hospital stay in Seattle is unknown at this point.

Please donate and help us share this campaign far and wide. Avery is in our hearts and prayers.
