Let me tell you about something that happened this past Fall. During a baptism service, a woman came up to me and said, I am so excited this morning! The friend I shared a tent with when we were homeless is getting baptized today! What a joy it was to be part of this life transformation! That has been the story of The Grove church from the beginning, God healing hearts and changing the lives of people in Scranton! Now, I need your help.
When I began with this team three years ago, I had no idea what God was going to do. I only knew that we were called to start a church in Scranton. For the past three years, we have seen God move in lives and awaken the hearts of those who call The Grove Church home. We have also known pain and heartache as we walk through the difficulties of lives enmeshed in darkness.
Now, we are reaching a critical point in the life of The Grove Church. When our lead pastor came on full-time in 2013, we were able to move forward on some crucial areas of ministry that were being missed. We believe that, in order to continue moving forward, it is time for me to come on as paid staff as well.
Up to this point, my role has been limited as I have had to maintain a full-time job outside of the The Grove. In moving forward, I will continue leading worship but will increase my availability for spiritual direction and discipleship. I will also begin guiding our outreach and social advocacy opportunities. I am very excited about this aspect of the ministry as it is one that I have been passionate about but have had very little opportunity to pursue.
We have set a minimum support level of $1,700 a month and I would be most grateful for whatever you are able to give towards this goal. I am seeking a monthly commitment for the next two years which would allow us to plan ahead. (I'd be super thankful with a one-time gift as well!) Please prayerfully consider giving towards this next chapter in the life of The Grove Church, or if you know others who may want to be involved. I do believe that our dreams don't even come close to what God is preparing to do next, and I would love to see you be part of those next steps.
