More about UPS

Everyone knows the chocolate-brown transporters with the inscription UPS, which deliver packages and documents to customers. The trucks are part of the United Parcel Service, a logistics company founded in Seattle in 1907 as a messenger service in the United States.

Since then, the company has emerged as the world's largest package service provider, delivering approximately 15 million packages a day in more than 220 countries. The company needs more than 95,000 trucks and a fleet of more than 500 cargo aircraft. Worldwide, the listed service provider has more than 415,000 employees, in Germany there are approximately 15,000 in 72 branches. Through international hubs, the carrier distributes the parcels and other cargo quickly and effectively. Due to the strong growth of the Internet trade, UPS also grew disproportionately. In 2013, sales were $ 41 billion.

Delivery times

To deliver a shipment, UPS offers a variety of self-delivery locations and a pick-up service. Pickup orders can be obtained through the UPS website. The carrier offers a multitude of national and international shipping options, in which the customer can determine how long a shipment is on the road. In Germany, the fastest service is UPS Express Plus, where a shipment is delivered until 9 am the next working day. Standard delivery takes place at UPS in one or two working days. UPS can also offer a Saturday delivery for urgent shipments. However, whether or not a shipment will be delivered on Saturday depends on the selected service as well as the place of origin and destination.

Internationally, delivery of the UPS Express Plus Service is scheduled for one or two working days, provided that there are no problems with importation. The standard delivery can take up to 5 business days internationally. There are four national, four international and seven international shipping services. Delivery times and costs can be determined in advance on the UPS website.

What is a delivery number?

To process a shipment, a UPS shipping label is required. These stickers are available from UPS or can be created on a printer. The status of the shipment can be followed using a reference number. A UPS delivery number can consist of letters and numbers (example: 2ZRV56A83672038) and up to 35 characters in length.

Where to find the consignment number?

The consignment number is suggested during the production of the shipment by UPS and printed on the shipping sticker. At the sender's request, the reference may also contain certain specifications such as a bill number, etc. A shipment tracking can be made on the UPS website. The carrier also offers its customers a shipment tracking by e-mail or SMS.

What can be done when the show has been lost?

Lost or damaged parcels can be reported by UPS or by e-mail at UPS.
