What do you have on your calendar this Saturday? If you have plans, cancel them! Grab your mom, your sister, your daughter, or your best girlfriend…It’s time to have the best “Girls Day” ever and go out and GET A MAMMOGRAPHY!!
October 17th is #NationalMammographyDay!
Occurring during National #BreastCancer Awareness Month, #NationalMammographyDay is an opportunity for people to get informed about tests and information that can help save lives in the fight against Breast Cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, about 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women and about 40,209 women will die from breast cancer…all in 2015!
While great strides have been made in the early detection and treatment of breast cancer – and many women diagnosed with the disease are living long, healthy lives –the fight against this deadly disease is far from over. During the month of October, not only is everyone encouraged to wear pink, but women should consult with their health care providers to learn more about the disease, discuss their concerns and develop an appropriate plan for @breastcancer screening – because early detection can save lives!
According to the National Cancer Institute, having a mammogram and a clinical breast exam performed by your health care provider is the best way to detect breast cancer early. The earlier the cancer is found, the better the outcome. The 5-year relative survival rate is 98% for women diagnosed with localized cancer that has not spread, according the American Cancer Society reports.
So stop making excuses and start making plans…put on those pink stilettos, grab your favorite women and get your Mammography ASAP! #BreastCancerAwareness #MoveYourMtn
