Little Liam is my first baby. We learned of Liam’s heart defects during our 20 week sonogram. Excited to learn if my baby was a boy or girl, it never occurred to me that something could be seriously wrong. I felt it in my heart, when the nurse asked me “How long did it take you to get pregnant?” I knew right then, that something wasn’t right. Months following we had cardiologist appointments every two weeks. Sonogram after sonogram. We knew he would need surgery, and we knew he would need a few. We had hope, and plenty of it. I would never give up on my miracle. Liam was born on February 9th 2011. He was breathtaking! Liam had his first heart surgery on Valentine’s Day, when he was just 5 days old. He spent his first month of life in the nicu/picu. He came home at just 6lbs 8oz. He thrived from all the love we had to give. 7 months down the road, Liam’s 2nd heart surgery was scheduled. I was an absolute mess, but I knew I needed to be brave, brave like Liam was. Liam came home a week later after surgery. He continues to thrive but his journey isn’t over yet. Liam was born with Coarctation of the aorta, double outlet right ventricle, and vsd. He is my fighter, my warrior, my life.
