Fundraising is changing. Individuals and groups will still have items to auction off, raffles to hold and dinner plates to sell. A new and updated component has entered the marketplace … crowdfunding. It’s the ability to ask your “crowd of people” for online donations. You can reach more people via social media and email than ever before. You can crowdfund for anything and/or anyone: personal projects, friends, family members, even Faith Projects.
To have a successful online fundraising campaign, you need to have a few key components:
~ A Great Cause. What are you raising money for? You can raise money for anything! A person, group, team, project, and even a non-profit.
~ Do you have a Crowd? Before you start your online fundraising campaign, be sure you have a group of people in mind you’re able to ask for donations from. If not, use the upcoming days to expand your network by sending friend requests on Facebook, network on Linkedin, and follow more people on Twitter and Instagram.
~ Set an attainable goal. Is your goal realistic? Give detailed information about how the money raised will be spent. It’s okay to set a small goal and reach it, then set another one. It’s not recommended to set a goal of $50k knowing you only need to raise $2k. People will notice these things.
~ Share, Share, Share! Once your campaign is live, talk about it to EVERYONE. Share it via email at multiple times and follow up with them. Share it on social media even more. Use every opportunity to make people aware of what you’re raising money for.
Starting an online fundraising campaign is easy to do and FREE to set up!
